Welcome! I’m Kathy, Founder of Ladies Against The Grain, Career and Leadership Coaching for Women in Hospitality
Hey there,
I’m Kathy Hubler, and my journey began in New York City in 2005. After years of schooling, hustling, and finally landing a job at a top NYC restaurant, I thought I was living the dream. But I soon had a rude awakening — I suddenly found myself unhappy and struggling emotionally, mentally, and physically. My dream career wasn’t as dreamy as I had hoped.
While grappling with my own issues, my co-workers often came to me for advice and support, which I was happy to provide. See, for as long as I can remember, people have sought me out for guidance and advice. However, balancing my own emotional needs with those of my co-workers became overwhelming. After four long years, I finally decided to leave.
The road was bumpy for a while, and each new role eventually felt like a poor fit. Then, I finally landed what I thought was my dream job. But after only a year, the environment turned toxic, contradicting with my values and what I wanted for myself and my career. I left that job without another lined up or a backup plan.
At this point, I wasn’t entirely sure which direction I was headed. So I researched, googled, and read countless books on living one’s best life and changing careers. That’s when I stumbled coaching. I soon enrolled in the Foundations Course at the Institute for Life Coach Training (ILCT), and it was life-changing! While I learned all the skills to be a great coach, I also discovered something about myself: I no longer wanted to live in New York City or work in restaurants. I realized I wasn’t connecting with the city or jobs that once excited me. This realization shook me to my core, but it was a huge step forward.
In the spring of 2015, after two years of training, I became certified as a Life Coach through ILCT. Equipped with newfound skills and empowerment, I took a leap of faith and moved across the country where I’ve discovered a happier, more positive outlook on life and my career. Since then, I've completed an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) and engaged in numerous professional development courses to hone my coaching expertise. I’ve also earned certifications in career transitions and leadership development. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching and guiding hundreds of professionals to achieve remarkable success in their careers and their lives.
