Navigating a job search can feel like a lonely journey through rocky and uncertain territory. I get it. I’ve been there too.

Maybe your resume isn't resonating with potential employers, or it feels outdated, and you aren’t getting many (if any) interview offers. This can leave you wondering:

  • How do I effectively convey my value to those who matter?

  • I know my skills, but why does translating them on paper or in interviews feel impossible?

  • And networking? If it doesn’t come naturally, it can feel discouraging, leaving you wondering where to even start.

Then there's the daunting task of writing another attention-grabbing cover letter—so overwhelming, you might be tempted to skip it altogether (friendly reminder: this is a crucial step).

There’s no sugar-coating it: the job search process can be taxing. Without the desired outcomes, it’s all too easy to feel frustrated, disheartened, even defeated.

But my friend, this is where your struggles end.

With expert-crafted marketing materials, personalized strategies, and one-on-one guidance, your job search frustrations will soon be a thing of the past. Together, we’ll eliminate the challenges of your job search and pave the way to landing your next role.

ASHLEY WHITMORE

“Working with Kathy I have a clearer understanding of what my transferrable skills and abilities are, I'm able to talk about them directly related to past work and figure out how they fit into new jobs/career directions I look at. I'm more confident overall in 'owning' those skills and abilities which in turn helps my competitive edge in the job search. She very much 'gets it' in terms of what was required skill-wise in all my hospitality jobs, and she understood that the cheffy job titles I held went much deeper than just making food. Kathy helped me figure out how to express that.”

“Prior to working with Kathy, I struggled with creating a relevant resume, getting started with LinkedIn, and being relevant in general. I felt frozen with what to do regarding my job search. Since working together, I've gained a sense of confidence that I do have abilities and transferrable skills. My job search now has momentum and direction. I have a framework to work with in my job search, and ongoing practice for interviews. Kathy encouraged a sense of purpose and meaning in what I have accomplished thus far in life and reinforced that in every meeting. It was nice that I didn't have to explain/translate the struggle of where I was coming from in regard to my background and my job search. Kathy encouraged discipline, but also compassion/self- care towards oneself in achieving goals in career work. If I could go back in time and have words with the version of myself who was deciding whether to work with a coach, I would say: Just do it! Why struggle so much on your own. Employ an expert who does this for a living- It's more than worth it!”

“After working with Kathy I feel more confident about my resume and LinkedIn Profile reflecting my skills and my experience and how that would make me a competitive candidate for openings.  I also feel that I know better how vast my skills set is and what I can bring to the table to a future employer. With Kathy, there's an industry-specific vocabulary.  It was helpful to have someone who can break down that jargon to be applicable to a wide range of positions and other industries. Having someone who understands the hospitality industry and who knows how to translate that language to any industry and to an overall job search was incredibly valuable.”

DYLAN ARMSTRONG

“I was going through a career crisis and deciding whether (and how) I should change industries. I was also extremely unhappy in my current role and needed to get help with my resume and LinkedIn -- and fast. After my sessions, I was able to uncover what I really enjoy doing, solidify my hard and soft skillsets, and understand red flags and green flags on job descriptions as I continue my search. Kathy's knowledge of the F&B/hospitality industry were able to help me get really specific with my likes and dislikes in my field of work. She recognizes the everyday chaos that all hospitality workers endure, and offers a really kind and helpful listening ear while also providing proactive feedback on how to tackle issues. The highlight of working with Kathy was having a direct timeline of how we were going to make the most out of our time together. Starting broad with establishing my skills and answering questions on what I want out of my career was really able to help with tailoring my resume and my LinkedIn profile. Kathy approaches everything with patience and kindness, which was something that I really needed at the point in my life when I started with her. I am leaving our sessions with a better understanding of myself both professionally and personally.”

“Before working with Kathy, I was doubting my capabilities. I was struggling with finding clarity in my job search and having an effective and relevant resume. Now, I feel extremely supported by an industry expert. Right away you know you are working with a kindred soul and can just get to the "meaty" bits. Because of our work together my resume is definitely where it needs to be. I have a better understanding of my values and how they apply to and affect my work. The highlight of our working together was having that "A-HA" moment of clarity when the cause of my discontent at work was identified. The sympathy, empathy, and expertise— This is part therapy, part coaching part sounding board all provided in a very safe and nurturing environment.”

“Before working with Kathy I was struggling with imposter syndrome and feeling like I wasn't qualified for a corporate role. I was applying to job after job but never getting past the initial interview or even the initial resume review. I didn't have a resume that stood out or really highlighted what it needed to. Now, I feel more confident in my professional materials and I feel more confident in my strengths and weaknesses and the ability to 'sell myself'. I really appreciated Kathy's candidness and honesty right from the beginning. Kathy's knowledge about the hospitality industry and her own experience is so valuable; I didn't have to explain or justify my own nontraditional career path - Kathy gets it. The best part about working with Kathy was having someone to motivate me to invest time and energy in my next steps, which was crucial. Before working together, I didn't know where to begin on the process. Kathy outlined it, held me accountable, and forced me to put the work in; but with so much support.”

 Hesitating with the questionnaire?

Here’s some more food for thought for you:

A job search is tough. Believe me, I know. I spent almost 4 years in a job that didn’t align with who I was or what I valued. I started looking for a new job my second month in but I just couldn’t leave because…

… I couldn’t find “the perfect” job.

… I was afraid of leaving the “prestige” behind.

… The money was sooo good.

… I isolated myself when I couldn’t find the help and support I needed.

I became miserable, unhealthy, and insecure.

Before I continue with my story, I think it’s important to note that today, there are even more challenges for the job seeker:

• The competition out there is stiff.

• There is still a lot of movement happening as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• You may be up against the applicant tracking system (ATS), which if you don’t know is computer software that reads your resume before it even gets into the hands of a human being.

I hate to say it, but it’s kind of brutal out there.

For me, things got better when I landed a job with good people- folks I’d worked with in the past. And once I was not long searching for a job anymore, I started doing work on ME. That’s also when I got clear that I didn’t want to live or work in New York City anymore.

So I moved. Across the country. By myself. With no job prospects. Just a very strong desire to live my life somewhere new.

After a year and a half of trying to prove myself in Seattle, WA I was tired. The countless resumes I sent, dismissals I did and didn’t received, interviews I went on, and preparations for all of that in between made me feel like Seattle was rejecting me.

Searching for a job, feeling the pangs of rejection over and over again, and experiencing the yo-yo of feeling stuck then hopeful (this is the one, I know it … oh no, I guess it’s not) can create anxiety, fear, and imposter syndrome.

Boo. Bye. No thank you.

Now, I know there is a better way through the job search. And I know I can help.

Working with a career coaching will:

  • Keep you focused, especially when it gets tough out there.

  • Help move you in the right direction, even if it’s just baby steps (those are steps too!).

  • Reinforce your commitment to your job search.

  • Hold you accountable to your actions, work, and progress.

  • Give you unbiased support, compassion, and feedback in your decisions.

  • Provide a champion, advocate, and unconditional support for you and your goals.

I don’t promise results, because everyone is different in their goals, what they bring to the table, and the action they put into the process. However, results my clients have gotten in the past include:

  • Insight into what they are *really* looking for in their career and the motivation & encouragement to go out and get it.

  • Inspiration and excitement in the work they truly want to do.

  • Confidence. Not only in the job search but in who they are and what they have to offer prospective employers.

  • Feeling empowered to go for what they want in their career— without settling.

  • Getting job offers ON THE SPOT during an interview.

All of this and more.
